Black Bream are deep bodied fish with a sharply sloping forehead, small head, eye and mouth. It carries sharp and pointed teeth along the jaws for prizing food from the rocks. The wrist of the tail is broad and powerful.

The balck bream usually spawns from mid May to through to early june.Black Bream The fish builds a nest where the male fish guards the eggs until they hatch. Once hatched the fish form a shoal over the nest site until moving on after about a week.

Black bream's diet consists mainly of shellfish which it takes from the rocks of its prefered habitat.
